Soy Candle Care
Soy candles are perfectly imperfect. Made purely from plants, the creamy texture can lump and clump but will always burn cleanly with no chemical residue. Most mass produced candles are blended with paraffin wax which is a derivative of petroleum. Green Gamine uses the highest quality pure soy wax made from organic soy beans grown exclusively in the USA, biodegradable cotton and hemp wicks and Phthalate-free fragrance oils.
1. Let it burn: A candle’s first burn is critical for setting a candle’s future performance. Give yourself some time - at least a couple hours - to allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the jar. This prevents tunneling and ensures every successive burn is even. After the first burn, the candle is set and should burn to the jar edges every time. It will take about an hour to get a scent throw, but once the candle is set you will get a beautiful scent throw without delay each time you light it.
2. Watch that wick: The only true maintenance your candle will require is keeping the wick trimmed. Using sharp scissors or a wick trimmer, keep the wick at a length of 1/4". This will also extend the lifespan of your candle.
3. Safety first: Never leave a lit candle unattended, and it’s recommended not to burn for more than 4 hours at a time. To protect the surface below from heat, place your candle on a coaster or tile.
4. Know when to stop: Don't burn your candle if only 1/4"-1/2" of wax remains. Lighting a candle without enough wax can overheat the jar.
5. Reuse your jar: Once the candle is finished, clean out the glass jar! Now you've got a new planter, pencil holder or vase. Or just throw it into the recycling bin.
