The people at Keds can now be known for something other than their horrendous taste in models (sorry, Mischa Barton). Keds have gone green and wouldn’t you know it – just in time for Earth Day. (April 22nd, folks. Put in on the calendar.) For every pair of Green Label Keds sold, the company will plant a tree – the product of a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation.
So what gives these rubber soles heart anyway? Here’s the short list:
- Non-toxic dye for shoes in snazzy colors
- Organic cotton (reducing their toxic pesticide count by 1,000 pounds!)
- 20 percent recycled outsoles
- Shoelaces are 100 percent PET (i.e. recycled water bottles)
- Nickel free eyelets
- Recycled insoles
Ladies, make like Vanessa Hudgens and get ready for your own eco-chicĀ sneakernight.
XO, The Green Gamine
